About the Opportunity

MDS is seeking to employ a Support Worker for our Pathways to Employment program. This position will work with adults and young people with a disability, providing support in employment preparation. You may be required to work across various programs, including Pathways to Employment and Supported Employment (Car wash/Cafe/Property services)

This role works with minimal supervision and involves applying practical skills in assisting people with daily living tasks, employment preparation and experience, community inclusion and participation activities. 

Key Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Supporting people with a disability and their family/carers in achieving life learning, recreation, employment and educational goals and aspirations
  • Provide travel training, transport, on the job assistance and other support as required.
  • Assists each person supported to access and be involved with the community as part of community based activities
  • Uses relevant communications and technology systems to meet reporting and administrative requirements

The successful applicant will have:

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach and support people with a disability, work readiness, employment skills and basic living skills
  • A genuine interest in supporting others
  • Working with children clearance
  • Provide First Aid Qualification
  • NSW Driver's Licence

It is also highly desirable that the applicant has:

  • Experience working in the disability sector
  • Certificate III or higher in relevant field
  • Ability to drive a manual vehicle

The Position is full time working 76 hours per fortnight working Monday to Friday. This role is covered under the SCHCADS Award at a Classification 2 ($24.89-27.37). Also offered is salary packaging and leave loading.
