About the Opportunity
MDS is seeking to employ a Mental Health Recovery Support Worker for our Mental Health program. This role facilitates access to supports and services that help people on their recovery journey. This position will be responsible for supporting people with a lived experience of Mental Illness to confidently embark on a personal journey of recovery and to attain the kind of life they desire.
Key Responsibilities for this position include:
- Provide practical support in implementing a range of goals, including, life skills development, attending appointments and social skills building
- Build and maintain recovery based relationships and practice
- Provide access to activities and opportunities that promote independence
- Co-facilitate group workshops in recovery and wellness strategies
The successful applicant will have:
- Mental Health qualification (Cert IV or higher)
- Provide First Aid qualification
- Knowledge of and a commitment to person centred user led services and ability to facilitate a recovery focused model
- Knowledge of trauma informed care
- Current NSW Driver Licence and access to your own vehicle
- Current Working with Children clearance
Desirable:
- Experience in recovery based practice environment with people with mental illness
The Position is Permanent Part Time . You will work up to 24 hours per fortnight. The hours of work are flexible and range from Monday - Friday, 7.00am - 6.00pm. This role is covered under the SCHCADS Award ($25.76-$29.04). Also offered is flexible working hours and leave loading.
