About the Opportunity
MDS is seeking to employ an NDIS Navigator and Plan Support Officer. This position will be responsible for working with existing and new participants and their families to maximise outcomes and make the most of their available NDIS Support Plan. The role reports to the General Manager of Marketing and Engagement but will work closely with the operational General Managers, Chief Operating Officer and their direct supports to achieve the strategic business outcomes set for the role. You will be a positive and influential representative and will have a good understanding of a range of disabilities and an ability to navigate the NDIS Framework.
Key Responsibilities for this position include:
- Work closely with Program Managers, Business Development Officer, Intake and Engagement Support, Community Agencies and Organisations to link participants to MDS Services and Community Supports
- Meet with teams to work through opportunities to improve and increase NDIS outcome achievements for participants through better use of existing and possible new programs within MDS
- Regularly review and recommend changes to better capture NDIS outcomes achieved by participants in their regular supports
- Meet with individuals participants and their support network to determine ways of best utilising available funding in plans and assist in preparation where necessary to support with future planning meetings
- Work with teams to support skilling and focus on person-centred approaches to achieving participant outcomes
- Work with claims team to ensure up to date information on the status of plans is known and provided to participants and their support network on a regular basis, in consultation with the respective line managers
- Work to a set of performance KPI's that will underpin the role (to be discussed with applicants at interview)
The successful applicant will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualification and/or experience in disability or community services
- Demonstrated experience in navigating the NDIS, knowledge of the system around plans and their management and connecting with participants and their support networks to guide and support decision making
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work and communicate effectively with participants, their families, community agencies and other professions, and ability to deal with sensitive/confidential issues with discretion and maintain trust
- Solid local connections with community agencies and other professionals, that will support/assist participants in decision making
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively within a diverse range of teams to achieve targets and meet goals while maintaining person-centred practices
- Highly developed organisational skills, including ability to plan, set and prioritise workloads to meet deadlines, as well as demonstrate flexibility and agility for changing priorities.

The Position is Permanent Full Time 76 hours per fortnight Monday - Friday on a flexi-time contract, with opportunity to work from home 2 days per week. Based at our head office in Campbelltown but may work out of other operating regions including Macarthur, Liverpool and Wingecaribee as required. The role may require occasional attendance at weekend or support events which may fall outside of regular office hours.
This role is covered under the SCHADS Award Level 4 ($39.26-$42.25 per hr). Also offered is salary packaging, flexible working hours, laptop, mobile phone and leave loading.
