About the Opportunity
Employment Mentors build professional and personal relationships with trainees based on mutual respect, enabling and empowering individuals with disabilities to reach their employment goals and feel confident in the workplace. We are looking for Employment Mentors who will work autonomously and part of a team to achieve agreed outcomes.
We are looking for someone who can bring a wealth of experience from working in the disability sector and/or allied health sector to Livelihood's opening team based in Ingleburn, with the opportunity to also work at our other Employment programs based in the Macarthur from time to time. This role would also be appropriate for people with lived experience and a good understanding of disability support if they have not worked in the sector previously.
Key Responsibilities for this position include:
- Facilitating the training of participants in transferable employment skills, by creating individualised resources and strategies to support participants to achieve their goals
- Support Participants to help achieve the business targets assigned to each team, on time and to a high-quality standard
- Develop a strong working relationship and become a mentor to individuals supported
- Provide all aspects of personal care, mealtime assistance and behavioural management to ensure everyone feels fully supported and is progressing towards their employment goals
- Deliver on any administration or reporting activities in line with NDIS standards
- Promote and role model appropriate behaviour to support Livelihood's culture, performance and brand
- Engage with participants using a Positive Behaviour Support approach where appropriate
The successful applicant will have:
- A passion for or experience with working with people with disability achieve their employment goals
- Energetic and creative individuals who think differently about assisting others to achieve employment goals
- A proactive, forward thinker, who takes initiative to solve problems
- High bandwidth for multitasking and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Empathetic and patient approach
- Drivers Licence and Access to a reliable vehicle
- NDIS Worker Clearance
- Working with Children Check
- Provide First Aid Qualification (HLTAID011)
- Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Qualification (HLTAID009)
- Covid-19 Vaccination
- Desirable: Auslan Experience
- Desirable: Experience in supporting individuals with behaviours of concern
The Position is Casual offering regular work of up to 5 days per week Monday-Friday 830am-4pm. This role is covered under the Labour Market Industry Assistance Award - Employment Services Officer Grade 1 ($36.90-$38.88 per hour). Also offered is salary packaging, flexible working hours.
