About the Opportunity

Due to recent growth in our employment preparation programs, MDS is seeking to employ 2 x Employment Mentor - Zone Leads for our successful employment programs. Both positions will work with very limited supervision and involves applying practical skills and experience in assisting people with a disability with employment preparation skills.  Work is undertaken in the context of supporting the person to increase employment capacity, explore opportunities and work towards agreed outcomes. The Zone Lead role operates as a skilled resource within the team and provides assistance as needed to less experienced staff and to the manager as required.

Key Responsibilities for the Zone Lead position include:

  • Support people with a disability and their family/carers in achieving employment and educational goals
  • Provide skill development and other activities or services and support relevant to employment preparation
  • Educate the community through engaging and networking with staff from community organisations, groups and businesses
  • Documentation, data collection and report writing
  • Manage a caseload of participants and monitor the progress of other team members caseloads
  • Work alongside other key staff to ensure participants are tracking towards their employment goal and Zone KPI’s are met.
  • Lead and support other Employment Mentors to follow MDS’ culture and values while ensuring the smooth operation of the Zone.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Certificate IV in a relevant qualification (eg Disability, TAE) or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Experience working with people with a disability
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach and support people with a disability, work readiness, employment skills and basic living skills
  • NSW Drivers Licence and Access to a reliable vehicle
  • NDIS Worker Clearance
  • Working with Children Check
  • HLTAID003 Provide First Aid Qualification - current within 3 years
  • HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation - current within 12 months
  • DESIRABLE: Previous experience acting as a leading hand/coach/mentor within a team
  • DESIRABLE: Training or knowledge in Reverse marketing and building relationships with employers

The Position is Permanent Part Time, 70 hours per fortnight (Mon-Fri 8:30-4pm) these hours may be different on rare occasions. 1 x role based in Campbelltown, 1 x role based in Ingleburn, these roles may have a rare need to work from our other locations at times. This role is covered under the Labour Market Assistance Industry Award as a Employment Services Co-ordinator ($35.24 - $37.82 per hr).
